What is ClickFunnels?
ClickFunnels started back in 2014, but in only three years it’s been, at the words of Forbes,”silently revolutionizing the internet advertising industry.” Here is the gist of ClickFunnels: It makes it much easier for companies and entrepreneurs to sell stuff online using differently complicated advertising technologies, known as sales funnels (more on those in a second).
The founder of ClickFunnels, Russell Brunson, is as renowned and for good reason. He has made a fortune, but not just from ClickFunnels, but other marketing adventures. He played around with email advertising for some time, and eventually began to master sales funnels.
Russell Brunson is the author of DotCom Secrets and Expert Secrets, two novels that his fans rave that guide and about people through his advertising and marketing methodologies. You are able to pick up Dotcom Secrets free on his site here. Get Expert Secrets free on his website . Click Funnel Substitutes
ClickFunnels started out as a means to help Brunson and his team create funnels more rapidly for different ventures, as creating funnels would usually take months. They soon realized their creation would be useful to other people and had good potential as a commodity.
What Are Funnels? How Sales Funnels Function
Before continuing with this ClickFunnels Review, let us clarify what a marketing funnel is. In marketing, it is a procedure that takes people who don’t know you personally and turns them into clients, aka a marketing funnel. In e-commerce, a sales funnel is a series of steps developed to guide a web site visitor to the checkout page.
There’s a way of considering it. Step 1: Imagine a funnel. Step 2: Envision this funnel is actually a metaphor, and rather than actual ingredients to pour down the funnel, you’ve got metaphorical ingredients you telephone internet traffic or site visitors. Your website visitors are looking around, checking out things. Your site is beautifully built, and your content is top notch!
Unfortunately, many of your visitors still doesn’t turn into clients. In a brick and mortar shop, that’s like people walking into your store but not understanding where the cash register is, so they leave the shop without buying anything. You can speak your clients. In a store, you may be a little more remote from your visitors. That is where your funnel comes in–it’s designed to appeal to your clients’ . The funnel functions step-by-step, draw traffic in closer and closer till visitors wind up at a payment page.
You’re right if you think this sounds cool –it has become a massive deal for online advertising. Russell Brunson did not only become rich by promoting ClickFunnels technologies, but by using it.
Pros: ClickFunnels Review
I have got some great news: ClickFunnels does its job!
ClickFunnels is intended to help save you time and energyto do exactly what otherwise demands a whole lot of competence and/or a range of third party applications. In this respect, ClickFunnels succeeds.
Makes You Cash
One of the best things about ClickFunnels is the focus on making the user money. They make it put your content up, easy to make your accounts, and begin taking payments. Plus, it is rather simple to pick everything up–it’ll likely take you a couple hours to find out a lot of what you need, max.
Drag and Drop Builder
A few features are extremely useful here. I enjoy how simple it is to replicate pages, and the fact I will save templates to be used again later. Their webpage builder is a pretty important attribute, and they have pulled it. Once you get accustomed to it, it is an builder.
Built in A/B testing is excellent too. All you have to do is duplicate a page, make your adjustments, and pick the numbers of the visitors that you wish to see variant A or B.
Great Choice of Integrations
I believe ClickFunnels manages API integrations . Email autoresponders and payment processors aren’t too much of a sweat–they operate reliably and are simple to control.
You’ll also find a WordPress plugin which lets you add ClickFunnels pages. It saves a good deal of time and is much less of a hassle than working between ClickFunnels and WordPress without a plugin. The Clickfunnels WordPress plugin can be rated a solid 4.4 stars from the WordPress plugin repository, with over 20,000 active setups.
All in one
In general, it’s good to get things so concentrated: I can build my landing pages, create forms and order forms, and activate emails all from 1 platform.
All of this really does save you time and money, resources you’d otherwise have to invest on programmers, CSShosting configurations, etc.
You can rest assured that the lower-tiered account is a good investment–what you are permitted for a StartUp accounts is really decent. If you’ve got more than 20,000 visitors and need over 100 pages, the complete package may not be too much to ask. Click Funnel Substitutes
ClickFunnels is not perfect, but it does a fantastic job of packing great tools together and making them more accessible. It arguably saves most users a headache they’d have if they attempted to manage funnels another manner.
Disadvantages: Clickfunnels Review
I’ve got some bad news: although ClickFunnels is overall strong, it’s a number of areas that need work.
A drawback is the price. There are just two pricing alternatives, at $97 per month or $297 a month. In the grand scheme of things, this is not like I’ve mentioned , another investment in your organization, and a massive drawback, you receive a good package for it.
Lackluster Customer Service
Beyond this, client support is iffy at best. In my experience, they’ve been nice with basic queries, but if you inquire harder things, especially about more advanced features, they will not be very beneficial.
Cult-like user base and applications also reliant on Founder
This is not an objective criticism of the product but I take a slight problem with their advertising that I believe is worth mentioning in this ClickFunnels Review.
If you get sucked into one of the funnels, it’s difficult to escape the hype. They have a great advertising for sure. But from a user experience standpoint, it can acquire obtrusive. When you register for the applications, you may attempt to examine the objective features of the software and integrate it into your own workflow, or you’re going to be missing and forced to learn Russell Brunson’s marketing methods.
This usually means you’ll find yourself buying online courses, books, attending seminars, and getting sucked to the ClickFunnels”Cult-ure”. Their Facebook Group has over 100k members and most posts consists of people flashing their sport cars and bragging about how much money they made. Though these numbers are real, the consumers give an impression that they’re more focused on earning quick cash instead of building great products and services. ClickFunnels has helped people do great things, but it has also helped proliferate fast rich schemes, on line courses, saturation of trainers and experts, along with other spammy internet marketer stuff.
We all know the creator is a marketing wizard, but much of the product is tied to his doctrine and his brand. As much as I appreciate the landing page builder, everything about it seems like an extension of Brunson’s platform.
Sometimes it’s hard to not get the feeling that ClickFunnels spends more resources on self-promotion than necessary, especially when some aspects of their product (i.e., client service) can still use some work.
This one isn’t on ClickFunnels however more on the neighborhood. While you’ve got the ability to customize extensively within ClickFunnels, many men and women use layouts. Considering the prevalence of ClickFunnels, this has led to a large quantity of ClickFunnel-y looks. Diversity is vital.
Software Outages and Bugs
Every now and then, ClickFunnels encounter some errors or will go down. Though this doesn’t happen frequently, there’s little you can do but wait patiently. If you are investing a lot in advertising or forcing traffic to your own funnels and a ClickFunnels’ glitch attracts down your pages for even a couple of hours, then you can potentially lose a good deal of money.
It’s also difficult to know if your pages are functioning or not, if you don’t always wait or wait till you hear from angry customers. When I clone pages using the HTML printing alternative, barring uptime, I also deal with some glitches.
Users Experience Differs… a lot
The dashboard changes often, the stream of creating new pages and funnels changes, a button will proceed, pricing choices change, etc–and it appears ClickFunnels is still figuring things out.
I enjoy consistency in my software if it is a business solution.
Finally, a criticism I’ve heard but do not quite agree with personally: it is too easy, and too pricey because of its simplicity. These criticisms have a tendency to refer to home improvement approaches which may be more economical upfront and yield more control over managing certain details. However, for less experienced users who are mainly seeking efficiency and an simple to use package of tools, I would not emphasize this too strongly.
ClickFunnels includes two pricing programs –StartUp and Etison Suite, rather called ClickFunnels and Full Suite–and even StartUp begins on the pricier side. StartUp is $97 a month and Etison comes at $297 per month. For what it is worth, you also get a 14 day free trial to try the support , so at least you do not have to commit to a costly program straight away. If you pay annually rather than monthly, you receive two months free ($997 for ClickFunnels and $2,997 for Total Package ).
Nonetheless, a little hefty huh? Well, some might say , and that I can see why–particularly if you compare to LeadPages, a comparable (overlapping, but definitely not identical) service which starts at $25 per month. But it’s important to keep in mind ClickFunnels’ most important service is to make funnels more effective, and it does a fairly good job. I personally consider it a fantastic investment.
The principal differences between an entry level consideration along with a premium accounts are as follows: StartUp receives the principal company, the funnel-builder, with a few constraints on the amount of pages (100), visits (20,000), custom domains (3), and only some of the full list of features.
However, both programs have unlimited connections, unlimited members, all advanced funnels, A/B divide tests, and a few other commonalities.
Etison/Full Suite has a full list of features, including the following: one-time payments (this can be a Backpack feature that lets you characterize a product as a one-time payment product for your own payment gateways); subscription plans (another Backpack feature, but unlike one-time payments, this allows your clients cover a subscription service); 3 SMTP integrations (StartUp includes 1); boundless funnels, pages, visits, along with spiritual domain names; priority support and template requests; as well as Actionetics along with Backpack.
If you’re confused with Etison/ Full Package, don’t worry, it is perplexing. This part I think ClickFunnels could really clean up. We’ll go into more detail at the section of this ClickFunnels review.
To outline the gaps, StartUp basically conveys the core feature of ClickFunnels, which can be called (you guessed it!) ClickFunnels. Easy! Full Suite, on the other hand, packs the foundation tool ClickFunnels with two additional providers –Actionetics and Backpack–and gives you the full set of ClickFunnels features. You can view the full official list .
Features Overview: Clickfunnels Review
How are ClickFunnels’ features overall? I think that they’re strong and you get everything you want. They’re largely intuitive and give you a good amount of control. The template editor and integration management system are all great examples of this and are very important functions, so I will be giving them separate sections. Click Funnel Substitutes
A/B split testing is a smaller feature, but definitely a noteworthy one.
If you duplicate a page and also make changes to the backup, the divide test basically enables you to choose what percentages of your visitors you want to view per page, letting you examine conversion rates very conveniently. It’s very simple to use and a function.
I also believe ClickFunnels is overall flexible and straightforward for other settings, like your account details or integrations. Maybe very tech literate individuals would find them prohibitive (a frequent theme among some criticisms), but while the support is supposed to be simple to use, I believed the fundamental features were pretty great.
There are a number of kinds of available pre-made funnels, oriented to different kinds of businesses, and you can obviously build your personal funnel from scratch also.
Actionetics and Backpack
I take a moment in this Clickfunnels Review to discuss Full Suite. Full Suite is three products being packaged as one: ClickFunnels, Actionetics, and Backpack.
What’s Actionetics? Well, it’s what many would call an e-mail or just an auto-responder, but it’s a little more complex. The chief goal of Actionetics is intelligent analytics that lead to smart auto-responding, but the auto-responding involves snail mail as well as email, and some other goodies. Along with Actionetics comes Backpack (previously Backpack CRM), a tool supposed to create managing an affiliate program simpler and more efficient.
But are different products, or such features? Actionetics sounds somewhat like ClickFunnels trying to market a iffy email auto-responder to me personally, but maybe I am just cynical. Whatever the case, it gets Complete Suite a bit confusing and eliminates the coherency you get together with the first ClickFunnels.
Here’s the full list of StartUp features
- 20 funnels
- 100 pages
- 20,000 visitors
- boundless contacts
- 3 custom domains
- A/B split tests
- Email integrations
- Optin funnels
- All advanced funnels
- Revenue funnels
- Membership funnels
- Unlimited members
- Auto webinar funnels
- Hangout funnels
- Purchase pages
- Upsell webpages
- Downsale webpages
- Share your funnels
- 1 SMPTP integration
- 1 billing integration per form
You can view the full list of features, along with Full Package attributes, here. If you’re in a situation where you can afford to try Etison for a bit and you also absolutely require an efficient, simple method of increasing sales, I do not believe you would wind up shorted. By that same token, I don’t believe Actionetics and Backpack offer such a massive advantage that you can not do without themfor many users, just StartUp will offer a thorough enough bundle.
Clickfunnels Review: Page Builder
This is probably ClickFunnels’ main attribute, so I wanted to devote attention. In reality, I think a huge portion of why I gave ClickFunnels a high rating has to do with it being a very good landing page builder. ClickFunnels distances itself from page building applications and advertises its own funnel approach, but truth be told, I use it largely for this particular landing page builder.
Anyway, there’s rather an array of templates with great designs, though as you may expect, just the templates made by ClickFunnels are liberated. Templates are coordinated by funnel kind, therefore poking around is not too hard.
You can also save certain templates and also create personal page templates, and it is rather easy to find them. You can toggle with fundamental settings and open from the editor as you can see.
Once your pages open from the editor, you be working with a drag and drop builder. It is a bit more complicated than some other mild page builders, but it’s still easy to use.
The editor uses a webpage structure with four main components: sections, rows, columns, and elements. Think of these parts as fitting inside each other (this article includes a helpful diagram). Basically: columns, rows, and components go inside of segments. You can have multiple segments per page. Rows and columns go inside sections, but columns specifically go into rows. This way you may have around four, or a row with a single column. Elements are the dynamic bits that also make your page interactive and go columns.
It may sound complicated, but it’s pretty simple to get the hang of. Everything is color-coded–for example, in the above screenshot, the selection is a mild green box because it’s a part, but when I was hovering over a component, it could be orange.
A small criticism I have heard (but don’t have personally) about the builder is how grid-like it is–you have to work within these columns and rows. I personally don’t believe this is a massive problem and the builder provides you sufficient control without sacrificing ease of use, but it may be worth a mention.
I like the page builder a lot. It makes designing your landing page quite simple, and it serves ClickFunnels’ goal: to make it easier for you to make money on the web.
Integrations: ClickFunnels Review
Integrations are exactly what they sound like advertising and marketing tools you integrate into the ClickFunnels software. There are a few different kinds of integrations you can add to your ClickFunnels accounts: email, webinar, SMS/text, and activities. For example, you might add MailChimp for your ClickFunnels because you enjoy MailChimp’s auto-responding software and you’re enrolled with them. Easy!
ClickFunnels has a few notable partners you may enhance your integrations easily. Here’s a list:
- Active Campaign
- Constant Contact
- GVO PureLeverage
- HTML Form
- Mad Mimi
- Webinar Jam Studio
If you go to your integrations segment, you can look for these or simply click the search bar, and they’ll come up. It is pretty self-explanatory, just click the one. Click Funnel Substitutes
The process for handling integrations can also be simple, though you might have to check your third party software’s documentation to discover exactly what ClickFunnels needs. You’ll find the process pretty straightforward. Integrations are a bit more technical conceptually than a few features, such as the page builder, so it is much appreciated to have a very simple way of incorporating and managing integrations.
Connected to integrations are payment gateways. Payment gateways get integrated and on other software platforms are just called integrations, but on ClickFunnels they get a part different from integrations. They may be known to ClickFunnels as billing integrations. Payment gateways will also be the things they sound like: they’re the integrations that enable your customers to pay for your stuff. Your shop will not really be a lot of store unless you’re using a payment gateway.
A listing of the payment gateways you can add:
- Blue Snap
- Easy Pay Direct
Managing all these integrations is fairly simple –so long as you’re all set up with whatever tool you are trying to incorporate with, you should not have any problems adding it into ClickFunnels. These integrations run smoothly and you don’t have to fret much about them.
Ease of Use: ClickFunnels Review
If you haven’t picked it up by today, ClickFunnels’ most important sell is its ease of usage –because their advertisement says,”Don’t waste any more time with’technology guys! ”’ As I’ve said in this ClickFunnels review, the most important ceremony ClickFunnels offers is providing tools which enable the less experienced to save money and time. That being the situation, assessing ease of usage is really important.
Short answer: It’s simple to use, but you should still have some expertise.
Longer answer: To get a first-timer, it might be a little overwhelming–and from first-timer, I mean new to the world of e-commerce and promotion –but the learning curve is far from hopeless. For many people, I’d say that the learning curve would be just a few hours max. Pick up the books mentioned previously in the review of Russell Brunson if you’re really behind.
Anyhow, ClickFunnels is unquestionably easier than creating funnels on your own. They have a reasonable amount of documentation, and it might not be ideal, but it seems to me as if most queries must be covered, and you could always contact a customer service representative if it comes to it.
All of that aside, some parts of ClickFunnels are rather easy to get a hang . The core characteristics of ClickFunnels–that the real funnels–are fairly easy to manage. A cohesive menu makes it effortless to navigate to all sections of your funnel managing process, from choosing templates into the drag and drop editor. Some settings involving email integrations or payment processors will want a little bit of understanding, but it’s nowhere near the amount of knowledge you would have to actually code the funnels–it’s things you can figure out by Googling around or seeing the docs center.
Finally, ClickFunnels is not mind-blowingly straightforward, but it’s overall streamlined with an intuitive user-interface. They do tend to change matters often, but it likely won’t be enough to hamper you.
We give it a 4 out of 5 at simplicity of use. It combines alternative and customizability with convenience, and while I would indicate all prospective users input with some simple technological literacy, it basically succeeds where user-friendliness is worried.
Who is ClickFunnels for?
Who really stands to benefit the most from ClickFunnels? Broadly speaking, small companies and startups (speaking from experience here) will find the maximum use from it. There are variations in funnel types that appeal to a companies more than others.
Consultants, speakers, coaches, professional service providers, people exclusively in e-commerce or community marketing, and even those that offer B2B services would most likely be most fit for ClickFunnels. ClickFunnels generally does nicely with people offering more ventures that are independent or products. The pre-made funnels are highly oriented towards these businesses: for example, if you’re a florist, you might find the pre-made Daily Deal Funnel to be a good way of marketing for you. If you’re trying to center everything on your own and your brand, there would be great support also. The same holds for people selling content like courses or publications.
Obviously, you could always start from a blank funnel, and I do not believe you should determine if ClickFunnels is ideal for you or not based purely on their default funnel kinds. If you are a smaller business, okay with the price , and you have to produce your traffic work for you better, I doubt you’d be wasting your time or money with ClickFunnels. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to keep a better landing page.
Client Support: ClickFunnels Review
ClickFunnels’ customer support is. I commend ClickFunnels for having adequate documentation on-site. I believe their documentation is nevertheless sufficient, although only for SaaS companies. Their page includes a series of classes, each with their own articles. It may be easy, but it’s not too shabby. Click Funnel Substitutes
As after you log in for the customer assistance, they have a feature within the dashboard, but I am not overly pleased by it. They have generally been helpful for simple questions and basic troubleshooting… but when I have had more complex questions, I’ve found them fairly unhelpful. With one special HTML publishing question, they took to get back to me. By then, I figured out a workaround. Most users will not require that sort of support and to be honest SaaS businesses don’t offer that level of support. So I give ClickFunnels kudos for trying.
I’ve discovered a consistency among reviews pointing out bad experiences with customer service. Notably, in cases when features have not worked when there were bizarre site malfunctions or as promised, client support reps were either unresponsive or unhelpful. One infamous reviewer in particular recounts how, because of site error, a number of his customers were locked out and how other non-paying visitors gained access to members-only content. When he contacted customer support, he found they were apathetic and unhelpful. It may be a situation that is unlikely, however it illustrates the point.
Total Support Rating
I wouldn’t state ClickFunnels fails in customer support–I think that the team mostly understand that their solutions are not easy to use and/or involve tools new for their customers, and they have put resources in their support to make it decent. At least fundamental queries will be answered, and they’re pretty responsive. Perhaps most consumers would not state ClickFunnels has outstanding customer support, but it meets. Within this class, we give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
Conclusion: ClickFunnels Review
So, what’s the verdict? It’s good! It’s a legitimate contender in the marketing software area and worth trying out.
Yeah, there are a couple drawbacks: Should you want a more solution to your marketing needs with customization abilities that are greater, you may want to look into third party options you’ll be able to tie. If you are going with ClickFunnels after all, you may find yourself and end up dealing with unhelpful customer service agents, or some glitches in the program. You might be annoyed by their self-promotion.
But you know what? Considering all, I don’t think any of these outweigh the good landing page builder, let additional advantages such as templates that are good, integrations that are solid, and the brief learning curve.
All-in-all, ClickFunnels succeeds in its center objective–to make it simpler for you to funnel visitors and attain higher conversion rates. Even negative ClickFunnels reviews acknowledge it can be quite helpful for internet-exposed entrepreneurs that are significantly less. I am pretty certain that for the majority of prospective users, the webpage builder offers enough choice. If you are looking for an sales solution or landing page editor, then ClickFunnels is a superb tool. On empty promises, it hasn’t attained its popularity after all, and that I’m giving it 4/5 stars.
